V21:4 December 3, 2021 Tip #2: Student View of Canvas Courses Prior to Start of Term You can provide students the ability to review first week assignments and requirements of a course before the course officially begins. To allow the early viewing of the course, in the Participation section of the course Settings you will see two boxes: As long as the box to restrict students from viewing the course before the term start date is UNchecked in the Participation section of the course settings, students will be able to review the course materials that are published but students will not be able to submit anything until the first day/start. The course needs to be published for this early viewing. You also have the ability to restrict students from viewing the course after the term ends. If the box for after the term end date is left unchecked, the students can view the course but they can no longer participate past the term end date.
